A History of Loudon’s

When George Kellough established the Kellough Bros. Dairy nearly a century ago, little did he know that his fledgling company would grow to become one of Northwestern Ontario’s leading retail and foodservice distributor.

In those early days, horse and carriage was the standard method of distribution. Back then deliveries may have taken a little longer to arrive, but when they did customers could always be assured of the freshest product available.

Over the next 30 years Kellough Bros. Dairy under the management of the Gleesons thrived by purchasing a competing dairy assets, growing and developing the Cow Palace Convenience Stores and Village Market Grocery Stores.

Originally servicing their own chain of grocery stores – the Gleesons soon realized that all stores in Thunder Bay and the region required servicing. Seeing an opportunity for expansion the Gleeson brothers purchased the successful Geraldton-based Loudon Bros. Wholesale and began building the grocery side of their business. A new era had begun.

Over the years, Loudon Bros. Wholesale has continued to expand and diversify to include all aspects of the foodservice and hospitality industry. Times have certainly changed since the days of the Kellough Bros. Dairy, but through it all the Gleeson Family tradition of quality products and dedication to the highest standards of customer service live on.

With over 100 years of experience in the foodservice wholesale and distribution industry is it any wonder that more people in our region choose Loudon Bros. Wholesale?
